Will it put things on my calendar?
No. The calendar connection is read-only in every case — Clarity never writes, moves, or deletes an event.
How do I connect my calendar?
Settings → Calendar. Pick your calendar there and the app walks you through the four steps. The catch worth knowing in advance: in Google, Integrate calendar shows two addresses that look nearly identical — take Secret address in iCal format. Both end in basic.ics, so that is not the tell — the one you want has /private- in the middle, the other has /public/ and only works if the calendar is public. Outlook gives you two links when you publish; take the .ics one. iCloud needs Public Calendar turned on, then gives you a webcal:// link.
Does iCloud's "Public Calendar" mean anyone can find my calendar?
Not the way Google's public setting does. iCloud has no secret-address equivalent, so publishing is the only way to get a link — but that link carries a long random code, so it is unlisted rather than searchable. There is no directory of published calendars and it will not appear in search results; it behaves like Google's secret address, where holding the link is the access. The real cost is what it publishes: iCloud shares full event details — titles, times, locations — with no free/busy-only option. Treat the link like a password. Turning Public Calendar off again stops it working everywhere.
Google isn't showing me a "Secret address in iCal format".
Then it's a work or school calendar and your administrator has turned off external sharing — Google hides the secret address completely in that case, so you aren't missing it. Either make that one calendar public (Access permissions for events → Make available to public; choose See only free/busy if you'd rather not publish event titles) and use the Public address in iCal format on the same page, or turn external sharing back on — if the domain is your own business you are probably the administrator, and the setting is Admin console → Apps → Google Workspace → Calendar → Sharing settings → External sharing options for primary calendars. That route keeps the calendar private. Note that Google’s public iCal address is built from your calendar ID, which is normally your email address, so it is guessable — the secret address carries a random code instead.
I added my calendar link and nothing shows up.
Almost always the wrong link. A calendar has two kinds: a sharing link, which opens a web page for a person to look at, and an iCal feed link, which hands over the events themselves. Clarity needs the second. If yours starts https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0?cid= or came from "Get shareable link", that's the sharing one — go back to Integrate calendar and copy Secret address in iCal format instead. Remove the old entry and add the new link.
Do I have to connect Gmail?
No. Every core part of the app works without it. Connecting it means commitments buried in your inbox surface alongside everything else instead of ambushing you later.
Does it read all my email?
It scans when you press Scan — never in the background — looking for genuine action items, deadlines, and mail waiting on your reply. Each one is shown to you to add or dismiss. Nothing is added to your board without you.
Gmail says it's connected but scans find nothing.
That's usually an expired connection rather than an empty inbox — Google's permission for apps still in review lapses after about a week. Reconnect the account from the Gmail tab and scan again. If it keeps happening, tell us at
support@clarityos.info.
Can I disconnect them later?
Any time, in Settings. Remove the calendar feed or disconnect the Gmail account and the app stops reading either one.
